When in Port Alberni a must stop is the Visitor Centre. Located at the entrance to town just past Coombs Country Candy is a lovely building that houses not on the Visitor Centre but the managing organization - the Alberni Valley Chamber of Commerce. Our Visitor Centre is often commented on as "This is the nicest Visitor Centre I've ever seen!" Test that comment for yourself!
Within the Visitor Center we of course have an abundance of information flyers from our many Chamber of Commerce Members including pretty much every Tourism related Business and many others. We also have:
> A very cool Adventure Map that has over 125 fun graphics depicting businesses and things to do in the Alberni Valley
> A new Food Guide that measures 4 inches by 5.5 inches thus it will fit in your hip pocket or small purse. The guide includes 46 different restaurant and food service brands in the Alberni Valley. It is impressive if we say so ourselves! Come and get a copy.
> Get our Tear-off map which is generously sponsored by our friends at Hupacasath First Nations. The map develped by the Chamber of Commerce is a full Street Index Map on one side and on the other is a listing - A - Z of things to do while in the Alberni Valley. You'll need to stay a month or two to come close to doing everything.
> Our centre hosts a beautiful display from Tourism Tofino that includes many of their business partners and fortunately they, Tourisum Tofino, are great at ensuring that we know our stuff too.
> A highly admired part of our Visitor Centre is our on site Gift Shop that is owned by Blue Fish Gallery. The Gift Shop stocks locally produced items from the Port Alberni area and throughout Vancouver Island. It is a lovely shop that is sure to impress!
